Mosaic Workshop with Amanda Anderson

Spend the day working with experienced mosaic maker Amanda Anderson creating a small mosaic panel for your wall using brightly coloured ceramic pieces, stained glass and recycled china. I will bring a variety of bases including hearts, but if you would like a particular shape or size then please let me know.

 

The workshop is suitable for all abilities. Tools and materials are provided. If you would like to include some of your own china pieces in your design please bring them along. You may like to bring an apron.

 

Lunch is not included, but the Blue Ginger café will be open.

Embroidered Folk Art Panel with Kathleen Murphy

A workshop which will allow you to indulge in a day of creative handstitch with artist Kathleen Murphy, a.k.a. Murgatroyd & Bean.

Taking inspiration from European folk-art motifs; hearts, flowers, birds and dancing figures, you will create a colourful, decorative textile panel using a combination of embroidery and applique techniques. 

Under Kathleen’s guidance, the day will begin with the opportunity to practice a series of embroidery stitches before being assisted to piece your chosen design together. Once complete, your panel would be suitable for framing or could perhaps be made into a journal cover. 

  • Suitable for both the beginner and more experienced hand stitcher. 

  • £65 per person which includes all materials and drinks)

  • Please bring along embroidery scissors and a selection of sewing needles

Bead Threading Workshop with Janis Waldron

Would you like to make use of all those broken necklaces and stray beads you have?

Would you like to learn how to professionally thread a necklace or knot pearls?

The course lasts from 10.30am to 4pm and costs £65 per person. Included in the cost is a pack of silver findings (catches, jump rings, crimps, earrings, and head pins) along with thread and wire, sufficient to make two bracelets or necklaces and a pair of earrings.  Illustrated instruction sheets will also be provided, which are yours to keep. Any additional thread, findings or beads required will be available to buy on the day.

Drypoint Printing Workshop with Adrienne Craddock

Adrienne will take you through the process of making a small drypoint etching using her portable etching press.

This process lends itself for creating portraits – human and animal, still life or architectural subjects. Images can be freely drawn or traced from drawings or photographs. Working on thin acrylic sheet, you will draw and mark into the plate with selected tools to create fine line and tonal areas. The plate will be inked and printed onto dampened paper.

Adrienne will provide lots of imagery to work from or you can bring your own photos and sketches. The workshop is suitable for both professional artists and beginners.

Needle Felting Workshop with Karin of Celestine and the Hare

A one day needle felting workshop. We will be making garden birds but you will learn the techniques to make other creatures once home.

Suitable for beginners or more experienced felters.

Rag Rug Workshop with Jenni Stuart-Anderson

Learn two traditional techniques and either make a sampler, decorate a bag, make a seat mat or start a rug.

 

Progging pieces of fabric through hessian backing creates a shaggy surface whilst Hooking is used for detail and pictures and consists of little loops of fabric strips, or yarn, pulled through hessian.

 

Includes a piece of hessian and hot drinks. You bring scissors and some rags (more details when you book).
