H-art week takes place every September and is a celebration of local art and craft talent. During H-art week local artists and crafts people run demonstrations, exhibitions and open studio events and blue-ginger hosts a series of h-art events. The h-art events timetable is normally posted on the website a few weeks before h-art starts.
This year blue-ginger is hosting 3 different art and craftspeople in an open studio event. Throughout h.Art week one of the artists will be at the gallery each day.
Philippa Day makes a unique range of bags, purses and homewares. She has built an excellent reputation for her high-quality level of design, detailing and finishing, as well as a real eye for combining colour and texture to produce beautiful yet unusual bespoke items. Philippa has a deep love of sumptuous textiles: and gets terribly over-excited by the dupion silks, real leather, vintage buttons, fancy ribbons and the yummiest of rich velvets and brocades which she uses in her work.
Garry Jones creates humorous, three dimensional cartoon images; "I attempt to attribute animals with human characteristics, using word play and common phrases, recalling the old silent movies where moments in time and emotions were captured by expression alone... The techniques I use involve raku because I like the unpredictable results and the excitement experimentation evokes, the natural finishes and the whole primeval smoke, fire, exposure and physical involvement of this ancient process."
